Literacy Club

On May 20, 2009 there was an extempore speech contest held by the Literacy Club. It was the first time we had such a contest in our school. There were 25 different topics. The competition was for students from Grade 7 till 10. There were ten entries. The audience was from Grade 4 and above, with all their teachers.

1st position was secured by Pasang Bhuti B404 and 2nd by Chaynga Sherpa B021, both both from Grade 9. Phurbu Yudon B338 won 3rd place and the consolation prize went to Pema Dekyong B028 from Grade 7.

Next time we are going to conduct the same contest in our other two languages, Tibetan and Nepali, for both seniors as well as juniors. Conducting such programmes benefit our kids because such it helps to build confidence and improve our language skills. The members of the Literacy Club are 2 students each from Classes 7 to 10 along with a group of seven teachers and a senior.
