ELECTION DAY AT SMD SCHOOL

On 14th May, Friday, we had a big day at SMD  as we had elections for the executive members of the Student Council and for School Captains (girls and boys). Every year, students vote fornew executive members and school captains. They appoint  capable students for executive members and school captains.

Regarding executive members of the student council, there were nine candidates who stood for election and only three to be appointed. Those who are selected for executive members have the responsibility of taking the students' opinions to the management meetings to develop the school.

Till last year, each student used to vote by stamping on a ballot paper which was waste of paper and it consumes a lot of time as well, as it was also not properly managed. So this time, the voting was done through computers. The students only had to click the ballot paper they saw on  the monitor. This idea was initiated by Nyima Dorje Sherpa (one of the Seniors who is on a Gap Year after finishing Grades 10 to 12 at West Island College in Calgary) and Som Bahadur Tamang who is currently working as a computer teacher. This electronic voting system was first time ever in SMD School. 

Most of the students were very happy and excited about this new voting system. They really liked it and even teachers were also attracted by it. The administrators were very happy to see the new voting system and they were very thankful to Nyima Dorje and Som Bahadur for their hard work and to all the students of SMD School who made this new voting system successful.

Executive Members

School Captains

The result was announced on 17th May, Monday at School Assembly. At assembly, the school Vice Principal bestowed khatas on both new and old executive members and school captains.

The new executive members of 2010-11 are Lhakpa Tsewang B299, Karma Dondhup B251, Migmar Lama B526. The new School Captains are Chokyi Dolma B329, Chungda Ghale B411, Lhakpa Tsewang B299 and Kunchok Lhundup B306.

We, students have really high expectations from them and we hope that they will bring a great positive change at SMD School. ALL THE BEST!!!
