Elocution Competition

At this time in SMD, we have three different houses so called Sagarmatha (blue) Strongen (red) and Sambhota (yellow). Every student and staff is distributed into those houses. Tsering Wangdue is the main organizer and he is the one who informs and gives notices to the house master for the any kind of competition. Each house has two housemasters male and female. They organize different activities like sports, cultural dances, writing essays, poems, calligraphy and elocution in the three languages we use, English, Tibetan and Nepali. There will be marks on all the activities according to their position. At the end of year the winning house will a get big trophy.

We had an English elocution competition on May 21st. There were three participants from each house and altogether 9 participants. Among them Sagarmatha house got first position and Tashi Chodon B386 was  the best speaker among the nine participants. At the end of the programme our school Principal Khenpo Chonyi Rangdrol spoke, highlighting his ideas and experiences. Likewise, we had Tibetan elocution on 4th June and the number of participants and results were similar to the English competition, but this time judges decided to select Pasang Lhamo B017 of Grade 9 as the best speaker. On June 23, 2010 we had Nepali Elocution and there were 2 participants for each house and among them best speaker was Pema Dekong B028 of Grade 8.This time Sambhota house won first place among the three houses.
