SMD Teachers Win Football Tournament

In 1987 A.D., Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche established Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School near the great Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa. Our school, SMD was opened to serve the needy and poor kids of the Himalayan region in Nepal. The main objective of our school is preserve the Himalayan culture, language and the Buddhist way of life.

The relation between our teacher and the student is deep rooted. The teachers behave to the students as their own children. Many teachers of our school are not from the Buddhist religion but when they become the part of SMD family, they are influenced by the Buddhist tradition. Now, many of the teachers in our school follow the Buddhist tradition. They feel that they are very lucky to get great chance to teach in Buddhist school and serve the poor Himalayan kids from very different parts of Nepal.

In our school, every year many co-curricular activities and games are being conducted. Our school also takes part in many inter-school competitions. For the first time our school teachers won the Inter-School Teachers’ Football Tournament held at Srongtsen Bhrikuti School. The coach was one of our own students, namely Tsering Thinley (B292). It was very tough for him to train our teachers but with his best effort he led our teachers to victory.

There were eight Tibetan schools in the Football Tournament, including our school. The first match was between our school and Namgyal Middle School. Our school won the match by 3-8 goals. Similarly, our teachers won over Srongtsen Bhrikuti School and HIM School and reached the final fight.

On December 1 st 2007, it was the final day for the soccer match and the match was between our teacher and Namgyal middle School. The match was going very tough.

Our teacher's best effort made them win the trophy with 4-3 goals. The match was exciting and everyone enjoyed it. All the kids were very happy with the teachers for winning the game.

Due to the blessing of the Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, our school won the game. They would like to thank the management committee for the permission to play the match and Tsering Thinley, our school student for coaching them with his best instructions.

THE FOOTBALL GAME

This game was organized by WITS Academy of Tinchuli and it is their first time organizing the Inter School Football Tournament tounament in their school. The game started from the 29 th of March and finished on April 6 th .

There were 16 schools including S.M.D. too. The game was held on knockout system. Which means that if we lose once then we had no other chance to play. We played against Chandik School and we won the game by two goals. In the first game we felt quite nervous and not so confident to play well. On the second game we played against Tri-Jyoti School and again we won the game by two goals. The second game was far better than the previous game as we had confident in ourselves. The third game was pretty tough to win but with teamwork we won the game by three goals. It was almost impossible to win them.

After the semi-final, we were pretty sure of wining the final because we had heard that they were not as good as we are. But I did not believe it because we had never played against them. We struggled for the trophy against Lord Buddha which was tougher than the previous school we played with.

Last but not the least, We all the players would like to thank the management group for letting us play the tournament which improves the inter-relationship between the schools and students to show what S.M.D kids can do. We also owe massive thanks to all the sponsors of the football equipments for helping us.

Lastly , we would like to thank Lobsang Damchoe and Tsering Wangdue for coaching and encouraging us to the final…
