Q.) Can you introduce yourself?
Namaste and Tashi Delek! My name is Laxmi Gurung. I am from Chitwan, which is situated in the Terai region of Nepal. I am a mother of two kids. My elder daughter, Dawa studies in SMD. SMD has helped me a lot in different fields in which I am lagging behind.
Q.) How do you come to know about our school?
Well I know Shirley since1997 A.D. I worked and I am still working at her house so through her I got to know about this school.
Q.) Why did you keep your daughter in this school?
I kept my daughter in this school because I really liked the noble aim of Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. I want my daughter to know more about Buddhism, learn Himalayan culture, tradition and follow the Buddhist way of living. Secondly, the school is also very unique that all the kids learn Dharma and follow the path of Buddha, which will always keep them with their good hearts.
Q.) Being a parent how do you feel about our school?
In my opinion SMD is a very good school. Firstly I feel very thankful to Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche that he is providing the modern education to many of the Himalayan children. He is also helping the kids to save the Himalayan culture. I also found most of the kids in SMD have compassionate and good hearts. They are very different than other kids in the world due to the Dharma teaching and high Lama’s blessings. They look cheerful whenever I meet them. The kids in the school also take initiatives to help other people with their Kid Power of a positive nature.
Q.) What do you like the most about our school?
I like everything about SMD. Mostly I like the relation among the school and the kids’ .I see all the school members are co-operative. There is equality and respect among themselves.
Q.) What kind of difference do you see in our school compared to others?
I see difference in the students of this school and others. Student of this school are simple. They are religious-minded and they have Boddhicitta (altruistic) hearts.
Q.) Do you have a short message to kids, Parents and sponsors?
Well, for the kids I would like to say that don’t waste the precious opportunity that you are getting in Rinpoche’s school. Always work hard to make a good target for Rinpoche’s aim. Study well and help the people of your own community. Never forget Rinpoche’s aim and all the lessons that you learned in SMD. For parents, I have nothing to say except to be grateful toward Rinpoche and the school and to our loving sponsors, I would like to say Thank you very much.
