Love and Peace Club

The Love and Peace Club is a group of students who gather to grow flowers at Thrangu Rinpoche’s school. We are a group of about twenty students who are interested in growing plants and helping our community. We are giving a message to the world about love and peace through flowers.

We teach the other students about the proper treatment of plants. We also advise them not to pull up the flowers and tear off leaves. We are trying to help all the people of our community by making them aware about the importance of flowers to all the animals. As we all know that the greatest and most beautiful thing in the world is flower so we students thought that the flower can be a good medium to spread our message of peace and love to all sentient beings.

The L & P Club was started by our gardener, Dawa Norbu. He teaches us so many things, and he tells us stories, too.

Love and Peace

To understand the real meaning of love and peace, here I have made one story, which I heard from my grandfather. The story goes like this.

Once there were two Kings in a Muslim country. The two kings were ruling their own states and they were always jealous of each other. One day, the war broke out between the two states. Lots of civilians were killed. Unfortunately, the land goddess saw all the sufferings of the people and she felt such pity for them but she don’t know what to do. So one day she went to Lord Buddha and told everything that she’d seen on the earth and also she asked Lord Buddha to help those helpless people. lord Buddha agree but he told her that she have to wait for twenty years. Suddenly, the final war broke out and lord Buddha came out with an ordinary monk. Lord Buddha saw that terrible war and came to know everything. He went near the two kings and asked tem why are you fighting. Instead of fighting, he told them that he had one big thing that shines the world and two kings get curious to know what that thing is? Before giving the answer, he told them not to indulge in the war and they promised and started showing them a very big apple glomming. Lord Buddha told them if they ate that apple then they will survived for more than 200 years. Again they started fighting for that apple. Suddenly lord Buddha told them about their promise. Then about their promises, the two kings realized their promises but they insist the lord to give that apple to one of them. Lord Buddha chopped the apple into two half and gave each of them. Suddenly the Buddha disappeared and they both were so astonished. They went back to their home and share hat apple with their respective wife. After eating that apple one king’s wife gave birth to a son and other one with a girl.

The babies started crying and while crying they heard a word of love and peace. Actually they were the incarnation of great person having pure heart. They were two different bodies avig same heart. At the end, the lord goddess thanked lord Buddha for creating that two babies got their own name. The boys name was Ali and girls name was Fatima.
Both of them were two different states and they dot know each other.

Now they were four years old. fatima got a Muslim teacher named Kaazi. Kaazi comes in her palace to teach her about the a war. He taught her how to indulge a war and how to fight. Actually, fatima hates all the stuffs like the war and she told him that she haven’t seen foe in her life. She also told him that every sentient being need love and peace. After hearing the words of her, he told her that who taught her about love and peace and he also told her that we must fight with our enemy and win them. Again Fatima told him that her heart says love and peace for all the sentient being. The teacher got so angry and surprise at the same time. The teacher complained to the king that his daughter always talks about love and peace and also where she learned that from? The king replied that he also dont know anything about love and peace. On the other states, Ali’s father was ready with his armor and sword. When ali saw that he immediately asked his father where he was going? Father replied that he has to go for war. He also said son, we have got lots of foes and when you grew up, you will have to fight with your enemy. The son told his father that it is not good to fight because through fight lots of people may die and isn’t it a great sin? Everyone in this earth needs love and peace. After hearing the words of his so the father got so angry and asked him who taught him that and I think you are not suppose to be my son. Being my son one have to be brave to fight and in his anger ali’s father threw him to his mother’s side. His mother saw all this and told the king that he is just a kid and let him do what he wants to do. Father said to his wife tat to teach their son bout the war and how to fight.

On the other side, faitma was getting punishment from her teacher. Her teacher started beating with stick on her hand. when this happened the pain goes to ali who is drinking with his mother. \ailies mother told him that wha thappne to his hand and ali showed his hand to her. His mother was feelings so surprised that how could Buddha made two beings having same heart?

Now both ali and Fatima were 18 years old and they were big enough. One day he want to wander outside the palace and he told the guards to take him outside and they agreed but they also told that he must be so careful and not to let anyone to know that he was a prince. On other side, Fatima also came to same incident. Both of them felt so happy to see the nature outside and felt themselves so cozy. When they were wandering outside they met each other for the first time and both them fall in love in a first sight.

Suddenly, the time has came to go to their palace so both of them goes to their own place. Both of them, they fall in love so profoundly that they dream about their meeting outside the place. They didn’t want to eat food as well. Ali shared all those incident to his ministers and Fatima also did the same. When ali went outside he saw Fatima and once again they et each other and they greet each other in a better way on that sunny and greenery day. They shared all those happy moments and the day again came when they had to depart with smile on their faces, hoping to meet each other again as they had promised each other.

But, the minister of ali saw both ali and Fatima’s togetherness and he complained it back to the king and when the king heard that he felt very much angry and went directly to his palace seeking his son. When the king finally met ali, he asked ali that why is he meeting Fatima, who is foe to them, but to that, ali told his father that Fatima is not his enemy. And hearing that, his father got so angry and ordered all the miniseres to keep an eye to ali and his behavior, which has been disturbing the king. And ali’s father wrote letter to fatima’s father about the whole incident. After reading those whole letter, fatima’s father also became so angry and he directly called his daughter, took out his sword and tried to kill his own daughter. Suddenly, the mother saw that and stopped the king.

After that, Fatima cried a lot and she wrote a letter to ali asking for a help and took her out from the palace and asked him to take her to the place where there is only love and peace. And to this, they both escaped away from their palace. When they were riding on a horse, ministers were chasing after them and shot an arrow to the fatima at the back. At the same time, they arrived in a desert, and the horse of Fatima tripped and fell. During the fall, Fatima hit her head. And when ali saw that, he carried Fatima, who was bleeding , up to the sand dune. While carrying her up, he was shot again in the leg with an arrow. And to that, ali said to Fatima, “ Promise me, we will never die, Fatima…aaaggghhhh..” Fatima said, “ I promise.” And after that, wind came and covered their bodies in sand.

After this, the two king again started war between them and the place where both of ali and Fatima died, has never had rain. But, after their death to that place, it rained and gradually the place strated growing very brilliantly and flowers could be seen. And when the two king were fighting, they smelled a sweet smell and everyone loved that smell and they forgot about the war and they went to search that smell.

After searching for that smell, they found one place with beautiful flowers with sweet smell all over it. Resulting to that, the kings, who were previously busy in wars, were now in peace and love and every corner of that place felt that peace and love, love and peace.

Actually ali and Fatima haven’t died and they were still in those flowers spreading love and peace with smell of flowers, keeping their promises alive. That’s way through, flowers we can create peace and love and flowers gives joy to everyone.

So that’s why I gave this club’s name “Love and Peace”.
