SMD Health Club Distributes Prizes
For a long time that SMD Health Club Kids have been checking rooms every Saturday. They check every room including the kitchen, dining hall and bathrooms. The main objectives are to keep the school compound clean and tidy and to help students stay physically and mentally active and healthy.
Our senior Healthworker Wangchuk Rapten says, "Health is wealth". If we clean rooms and the school compound then automatically, the environment will be clean and healthy for all. Practice is more crucial than theory. If we keep our compound clean than there is less chance to spread disease. So Wangchuk Rapten shows active initiative to keep the school clean and tidy and the Health Club Kids do a lot to make everyone aware.
The other day, the Health Club gave prizes. Everyone was surprised to see how magnificent the prizes were. The prizes are given to students for keeping the hostel rooms clean and tidy but there were also prizes for the most untidy rooms! The purpose of giving prizes for poorly-kept rooms is to encourage kids to keep the school clean.
Last year the boys' room no. 3 was chosen as the worst-kept, but this year they won the honour as the cleanest room. All the students and teachers were proud of health club for their leadership. They give new hope and courage for students to keep their rooms, dormitories and school compound neat and tidy.

Best student
Bishal Sunwar D831 won the Best Student of 2010 for his kindness and his extraordinary support towards the Palas and Amalas (support staff). Bishal has always shown his enthusiasm to help. He helps them to carry food & water and cuts the vegetables. It was his own initiative to help the non teaching staff during his leisure time. For his commitment and devotion towards Thrangu Rinpoche's (the school's founder) aims, Bishal was nominated as the Best Student by Karma Lekshey (our monk "nyerpa" = buyer) and Wangchuk Rapten to appreciate his good work and to encourage others. In the past, Bishal he was shy and too quiet, now he has transformed himself to a charismatic and devoted leader.
