Waiting for Rinpoche to Arrive

Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche Visits SMD

On 2 nd March, the founder of SMD school, VV Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche visited us. While all the SMD family was waiting for him, everyone seemed very exicited when I looked at their faces. When Rinpoche came out of his car, the first thing I saw was a very big and most beautiful smile on his charming face. Everyone of us was smiling as well. Rinpoche made his way to the junior classes and the older students were asked to go inside the shrine hall for prayers.

When Rinpoche came inside shrine hall, everyone was giving a big hand & a standing ovation. After that we started our prayers (Medicine Buddha). The students did the prayer very well and Rinpoche was impressed by the way the students prayed. The prayer was about one hour long.

After the prayer, Rinpoche gave a very wonderful speech specially for the students. He began his speech explaining his objectives in establishing SMD school. He said his main aim is to preserve Himalayan tradition, culture & language. This unique tradition will become extinct if we don’t try to preserve it.

He also told us that there are many parents who are begging for the admission of their children. Our school is trying to provide all kinds of support, as much as possible. He told us,

“I gave this opportunity to you all, & now it is your job to study hard & do something helpful for others. It will be very shameful if you don’t study hard. After finishing your studies when you will go back to your villages, I want you to help society and be the sunshine for them.

There are many people around the world who are keen to know about our unique tradition, culture & language. They can understand the value of our tradition & culture. Many have put it into books. There are many books published around the world about the Buddhist Dharma. So many people have learned about Dharma & they try to bring it into practice. You can understand the tradition & culture. So, you should try to preserve it. If we don’t preserve our own tradition, culture & language, it is very shameful. Utilize your opportunity & study hard. Thank-you.”

In this way he ended his speech. We are very proud to have a Tsawe Lama like him. I think his speech touched everyone’s heart & they will follow whatever he said. After all this he left our school. Everyone of us was smiling after that. Once again Thank You very much for opening this school, Rinpoche!
